Twenty years ago I had the opportunity to build my first guitar under the tutelage of Gerard Gilet and his team, That experience changed everything — it taught me not just how to shape wood and fit bracing, but how to listen to an instrument as it grows.

Those early lessons were as much about patience and humility as they were about technique. I learned the meticulousness and the precision needed to balance top stiffness and responsiveness,.

Since those early years I have moved to the Byron Bay hinterland and am lucky enough to live in an area inspiring creativity and inspiration. While I aesthetics are extremenly important; I make these guitars to be played every day, When someone sits with one of my instruments and plays without fuss, I remember why I do this.

No matter how many guitars, I still get have that reverence I felt as a child. For me guitar making is the perfect intersection of engineering and magic., I’ve come to understand that the best guitars are not surprises — they are the inevitable result of hard work, consistency and innovation.
